Reducing traffic pressure and making streets safer
Traffic and road safety are daily concerns for many Coquitlam residents. As our city grows, transportation planning needs to keep pace so people can get around safely and reliably.
I believe transportation decisions should be guided by one simple question:
Will this make it safer and easier for residents to get where they need to go?
That means planning before major development, improving dangerous intersections, reducing congestion, and making streets safer for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, scooters, and people using mobility devices.
My Priorities:
Require traffic planning before major growth
Major redevelopment should not be approved without clear transportation planning. Growth needs to be matched with roads, transit, sidewalks, and safety improvements.
Improve dangerous intersections and crossings
Residents know where the unsafe crossings, speeding problems, and dangerous intersections are. City Hall should listen and act before serious injuries happen.
Reduce congestion where residents feel it most
Traffic planning should focus on the routes and neighbourhoods where congestion is already affecting daily life, especially near schools, major roads, and growing areas.
Support practical transportation choices
People should have safe and realistic options whether they drive, walk, bike, roll, or take transit. Transportation planning should reflect how residents actually move around the city.
